CEBU Governor Gwendolyn Garcia wants to talk with the Cebu City Government regarding the latter’s request to temporarily transfer the south bus depot during the Sinulog on Sunday, January 19, 2020.

Last Friday, January 10, the City Council approved the resolution asking the Provincial Government to station the buses of the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) along the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR).

The City Council would want the Capitol to open a temporary bus terminal starting at 3 a.m. on Saturday, January 18. It would stay at the CSCR on Sunday until the Sinulog festivities are over.

The purpose of the buses’ temporary transfer is to convert the CSBT on Natalio Bacalso Ave. into a parking space for the vehicles of Cebu City’s high-profile guests and headquarters of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office for the Sinulog.

According to CSBT operations head Carmen Quijano, around 500 buses cater to 50,000 passengers every day.

Garcia said it would be late to announce to the commuters that the bus terminal would be transferred temporarily to the CSCR.

The final decision, she said, would be reached after her discussion with the Cebu City representatives. (ANV/KAL)
