Utzurrum: Landmasters carols and Tien Ma’s treats

The Scene

CEBU Landmasters Inc. (CLI), the country’s top real estate developer, recently hosted an entertaining and exciting “Christmas Carols” event at its splashingly, brand-new commercial bullding, Baseline Center. Citadines, the multi-storey celebrated apartment/hotel complex, loomed majestically as the Yuletide affair unfolded on the ground floor.

Holiday hues of royal and ice-blue decor with touches of silver, on walls and posts, dominated the area. Holiday-makers started to pour in, and why not? They were all there to look and listen to the special world-class guests, multi-awarded JRG Visayas Chorale with its varied repertoire of holiday numbers.

Among the VIPs, we met CLI chairman Jose Soberano lll, CLI vice president, wife Marose, and family—all music lovers!

After the chorale proudly bowed, then it was kiddie time. And with riotous games, prizes and food treats, everyone had a ball!

This culinary tale starts in Taiwan, Fangshan Township, P’ing tung country, 1932. A young girl, Tien Liyuan, helped her mom prepare food for her younger siblings. Eventually, Tien opened her own food stall in Zhongsan District where she perfected her now famous Xiao long bao (soup dumplings) recipe.

In time, this reached Manila, where enterprising Cebuano Eric Mendoza got to taste its heavenly flavor. Next thing we knew, Eric opened Tien Ma’s Taiwanese Cuisine in Cebu, located at Meerea High Street on Ouano Ave., North Reclamation, Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

At its recent blessing rites, Eric and family entertained Cebu’s gourmet set with the real McCoy, including laksa, orange chicken etc.

This we can assure you: The deliciously authentic cuisine is also most affordable!
