ENPS Foundation donates books, telescopes

INJECTING science appreciation to the younger generation, the Erik and Nora Petersson School Plan (ENPS) Foundation donates telescope and astronomy books to Sta. Cruz National High School, Talicud, Island Garden City of Samal.

Erik Petersson, the foundation’s founder said the books and telescopes will be instrumental in improving the students’ level of appreciation and knowledge about science especially in astronomy.

Nora Petersson, for her part said, they’re doing it not just for the children but for the whole community.

“On behalf of DepEd – Samal, thank you for your continued support to our school children, to the school community of Talikud Island particularly in Sta. Cruz National High School. You’ve been helping the community for some 40 years now,” Winnie E. Batoon, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent said.

Also present during the turnover ceremony were Jasmin Neri, the Department of Education –Samal Division Partnership Focal Person; Mercedes G. Caberos, Principal of Sta Cruz National High School; Rheider Jan T. Bartolini, Science coordinator of Sta. Cruz National High School; and Allan D. Balisbis, Division EPS- Science.

Apart from the books and telescopes, the foundation also sponsored scholarships for 21 high school students in Talicud Schools. Three of its beneficiaries are from Sta. Cruz National High School – Cogon Extension; eight are from Sta. Cruz National High School, and 10 are from Gamban Dadatan National High School.

Moreover, the foundation also donated tools and equipment for Technical-Vocational Livelihood Track in Sta. Cruz NHS - Senior High School as well as chairs for computer rooms.

Some 25 years back, the ENPS Foundation introduced computers to University of Mindanao – Peñaplata before the school’s main office took over.
