Capitol eyes procurement system upgrade

LAWYER Rayfrando Diaz, the chairman of Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental is pushing for the upgrade of the procurement system at the Capitol.

"I have already asked out Information Technology experts at the Capitol to look at putting up of one work station just for the BAC," Diaz said.

He said this would mean that only one workplace for the processing related to procurement from submission of requests to posting on the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PhilGEPS), release of bidding documents, post- qualifications and notices of awards and contracts is needed.

Diaz pointed out that the current computers being used by the BAC personnel are old and they cannot use new softwares on them because they will not work.

"If Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacon approves it, we will procure seven new computers and two printers for the BAC to use," he said.

With the upgrade, he said, "we could generate documents faster and hasten the process."
