Valencia City crimes declining, police say



CRIME volume in Valencia City, Bukidnon in 2019 has dropped by 22 percent, according to city police chief Surki Sereñas.

The Valencia City Police Office recorded a total of 414 crimes from January to December in 2019, compared to the 527 total crime volume recorded in 2018.

Of the said figure, 195 were categorized as index crime. Index crimes are crimes committed against person and property such as murder and homicide (30); theft and robbery (125); and rape and other crime against women (16).

Compared to the 214 index crimes recorded in 2018, index crimes in 2019 has lowered to 19 percent.

The city police office recorded 218 non-index crimes which is 24 percent decrease from the 286 non-index crimes recorded in 2018.

Non-index crimes are violations of the special laws and local ordinances.

The Valencia City police reported a total of 291 arrested wanted persons, 46 drug users and pushers, and 20 thieves/robbers. They have also curbed and arrested 20 illegal gambling operations.
