Sungduan: About Kim

VISITING home in Baguio City after 15 years has been a very memorable experience for 16-year-old Miss Young USA Philippines Kim Pidazo who shared her victory to the children in Barangay Camdas by treating them to a Christmas party.

She was only one year old then in year 2005 when she visited the place where her mother Thelma Pidazo grew up. But lately she came home with the throne being the Miss Young USA Philippines 2019.

During the event held lately she was warmly welcomed by the children and the entire community whom she shared stories with and had fun with them through games and gift giving.

“I am so happy that I have their support every single day. I know they are always here with me in spirit with whatever I am doing and really I am just really so happy to be here now,” Kim said.

Kim’s father Anthony Pidazo who is a US Navy Reserve is also from Baguio City and grew up at Suello Village.

In California, the teen beauty queen is actively involved in promoting the culture of the Philippines especially Benguet and the entire Cordillera which is her main advocacy. Together with her parents, they inspire other Cordillerans to love their cultural heritage with the organizations- the BIBAK San Diego and Benguet 13 Organization of California Inc.

“It makes me feel so proud to know that I come from this beautiful country. Really, I’m just so happy to be here to show everyone back home how beautiful Philippines is,” she said.

During her stay in Baguio she also visited Baguio City Hall where she was warmly welcomed by Mayor Benjamin Magaong and was given a symbolic key as a token.

Kim is also a singer and had been a front act singer of Philippine artists holding concerts in the US and performed in national basketball and football games in America.

Now that she is back in California and busy preparing for the National Association of Merchants Conference in Anaeheim Convention California, a conference where popular singer Taylor Swift also served as guest last year.

She vowed that she will continue with her advocacy of preserving and promoting the rich culture of the Philippines.
