Benguet veggies donated to Taal

IN THE spirit of Bayanihan, highland vegetables from Benguet were donated to areas affected by the Taal Volcano eruption.

Police Major Roldan Cabatan, La Trinidad Municipal Police Station chief, disclosed that the second batch of various vegetables weighing 3,000 kilograms will be delivered to affected families in Ibaan, Batangas.

Cabatan added the different vegetables were donated by various associations of League of Associations of La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post in La Trinidad, Benguet.

The ranking police officer said the initiative was made by the local police and highland farmers who donated the vegetables to help those affected by Taal Volcano which erupted last Sunday, January 12.

The first batch of donations of 3,000 kilos were donated to evacuation centers in Lipa City, Batangas.

The donation drive dubbed as “Gulay para sa mga kapatid sa Batangas " gather donations including cash, assorted grocery items, clothes and vegetables.

Agot Balanoy of the League of Associations Inc. in La Trinidad added aside from the first batches of donations, the league also coordinated with the agricultural department to deliver 3,000 kilograms of vegetable produce on Sunday.
