Santisima preps for possible title shot

EVEN though Jeo Santisima and his team haven’t received an offer or even heard a word from World Boxing Organization (WBO) super bantanweight champion Emanuel Navarrete’s promoter for a fight on Feb. 22, 2020, they will stay ready just in case they will be called into action.

“They haven’t contacted us yet. But Jeo has been training all year round,” ALA Gym head trainer Edito Villamor told SunStar Cebu.

News came out on Jan. 16, 2020 that Santisima will be Navarrete’s challenger in the undercard of the Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury rematch at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Boxing insider Mike Coppinger broke the news through Twitter.

If it pushes through, the 23-year-old Santisima is ecstatic because this is the opportunity he has been waiting for all his life.

“It’s truly a blessing from God that I’ll be given a chance to fight for a world title,” said Santisima.

Santisima has been training for two weeks after the holidays. He is currently sparring with one-time world title challenger Jonas Sultan and will be scheduled for sparring with KJ Cataraja next week. (EKA)
