EIGHTEEN farmer-beneficiaries of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (Carp) of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in La Castellana town, Negros Occidental have received their certificates of land ownership award (Cloas) on Wednesday, January 16.

The 12 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) received their Cloas for the 8.7692-hectare land situated at Barangay Cabagna-an from a landholding formerly owned by Felix Feria Jr.

Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Normando Cresino, who spoke at the distribution rites reminded the beneficiaries not to engage in any illegal activities, adding that Cloas shall not be sold, transferred or conveyed except through hereditary succession or to the government.

Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) representative Levy Villacrusis encouraged the farmer-beneficiaries to settle the obligations in their annual land amortization in the LBP for the period of not more than thirty years.

Municipal Assessor Ricardo Colache, meanwhile, presented to farmer-beneficiaries the factors on how to assess the value of their land.

He then urged them to pay their land taxes to the local government.
