AN ESTIMATED 2,000 devotees welcomed the images of the Señor Santo Niño and Our Lady of Guadalupe during the Traslacion along the stretch of A.S. Fortuna Street and A. del Rosario Street in Mandaue City Friday morning, January 17, 2020.

Devotees--young and old--raised their own images of the Santo Niño as the motorcade passed by their area. Several devotees were also waving colorful flags and showering the images with flowers and confetti.

When the images arrived at the National Shrine of Saint Joseph in Mandaue City, the customary "Pahawok" or the kissing of the images immediately began.

The church will still hold regular scheduled masses but the "Pahawok" will continue from a lane at the right side of the church so as not to disrupt masses.

According to Mandaue City Police Office Information Officer Police Major Mercy Vilar, the motorcade and the receiving of the Holy Images at the National Shrine of Saint Joseph were a success.

However, their challenge is in implementing the new scheme of the kissing of the Holy Images.

The images will leave after an 11 p.m. farewell mass on Friday. (KFD)
