But what’s interesting is that the changes we are bringing are also instinctively desired by almost everyone. Regardless of age, we seem to agree on how we want to work and what we need as employees or entrepreneurs to be happy and more productive during work hours.

Before, most people strictly report in office desks and cubicles (despite the painful commute) Now, huge companies and start-ups are becoming more and more open to “work anywhere” setups as long as internet connection is fast and available.

Before, performances are keenly evaluated based on the time folks clocked-in until the time they clocked-out. Now, work is defined by output, communication and how one can build fluid relationships.

Before, career growth is achieved by climbing the organization’s hierarchical ladder. Now, progression isn’t cast in one stone. Growing can mean moving lateral or taking your own path. Sometimes, even moving from one company to another or one field to another.

Before, employees need to patiently wait for quarterly or annual appraisal meeting to get feedbacks. Now, it’s okay to hit me up me every week over Facebook messenger, viber and whatsapp.

Before, teams communicate through personal meetings and emails. Now, skype calls can take over conferences, while google drive is maximized for file-sharing.
