Bacolod business one-stop-shop extended

THE Bacolod City Council approved the extension of the Business one-stop-shop (Boss) and the deadline of payment for business permits from January 20 to February 29.

The extension was approved during the special session of the City Council Thursday, January 16.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) had earlier sent their request to Mayor Evelio Leonardia for the extension of the filing of permits and deadline of the first quarter payment of business tax.

“The extension of Boss is a big help to the business owners to comply all the requirements of the business permits,” he said.

He added the representatives of the barangays will also stay at the Bacolod Government Center until February 29 to issue barangay clearance.

Familiaran noted that after the extension, the Permits and Licensing Division along with the Land Tax Office will conduct inspection to various business establishments.

From January 2 to 10, the Permits and Licensing Division already registered a total of 11, 384 business establishments or with an increase of 18.73 percent compared to 9, 588 establishments registered in 2019. Stela Rose Rayos, head of Permits and Licensing Division, earlier said most of the registered establishments are restaurants, real estate lessors, refreshments, eateries, and food carts among others.

“We reached that big increase because of our advance processing of the business permits in December 2019,” she said.

She added in 2019, the business registration in Bacolod has reached a record-breaking 25,627, surpassing the record of 2018 with 23,187 businesses registered, according to the Permits and Licensing Division.

Through the one-stop-shop, business owners can fast track the processing of permits, and save time and money since all agencies and offices they need to transact with are together under one roof.
