Mabalacat LGU to donate P1-M cash, P1.7-M food packs to Taal victims

MABALACAT City Mayor Cris Garbo said the city government is set to donate P1 million cash and P1.7 million worth of food items to the victims of the Taal Volcano eruption in Batangas province.

The mayor disclosed this Friday, January 17, during the press conference of the Fiestang Caragan, Central Luzon’s grandest festival.

“We will be moving to Taal, Lemery sa Tuesday po that’s January 21 early in the morning and we will be donating P1 million cash and also P1.7 million worth of food items,” Garbo said.

City Administrator Emmanuel Ignacio said they have a total “standy funds” of P5 million to assist the victims of Taal Volcano.

The provincial government, under the direct supervision of Governor Dennis Pineda, initiated a relief operation in Batangas to help the victims.

Pineda sent 14 trucks to Alitagtag town to help the evacuees. He also led a medical mission which benefitted more than 500 people, who are suffering from respiratory ailment.

The governor also went to different evacuation center in the province and distributed 3,000 food packs.
