More vegetables donated to Taal victims

MORE highland vegetables are making their way to calamity stricken areas in Taal.

Major Roldan Cabatan, La Trinidad Municipal Police Station chief, said the third batch of vegetable donations weighing 2,500 kilograms were delivered to affected families in Lipa, Batangas on Friday, January 17, of “Gulay para sa mga kapatid natin sa Batangas” which started on January 15.

The different vegetables were donated by stakeholders from League of Associations of La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Agot Balanoy of the League of Associations Inc. in La Trinidad added aside from the first batches of donations, the league also coordinated with the agricultural department to deliver 3,000 kilograms of vegetable produce on Sunday.

At the Benguet Agri-Pinoy Trading Center, a donation drive dubbed “Relief for Batangas” were launched from stakeholders composed of farmers, disposers, buyers and traders also on Friday.

Moreover, farmers and traders of Tinoc, Ifugao delivered tons of highland vegetables and fruits dubbed “Operation Taal”.

Farmers and trader form municipality of Tinoc donated closed to 12 tons or 12,000 kilograms of vegetables for the victims of the eruption.

Volunteers from La Trinidad Municipal Police Station, Baguio City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, POSD, Pasa Kalye Youth, Benguet State University Students and concern stakeholders help in the repacking of the donations.

The City Government of Baguio also provided the trucks utilized for the transport of the goods to reach areas of Alfonso, Cavite and San Luis, Batangas.
