DANCING in the Sinulog grand showdown is Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia’s way of asking the Sto. Niño to protect the whole province of Cebu.

Garcia made her comeback Sunday, January 19, after six years of hiatus. She joined the guest performer, Siloy Festival of the Municipality of Alcoy.

“I always pray for the protection of the province of Cebu,” she said in a press conference held after her performance.

Garcia said she will continue to dance as long as she is the governor of Cebu.

She also hoped that her unity dance with Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella will be pushed through next year.

Labella was supposed to dance with her Sunday but he later begged off as he had to attend to the arrival of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Duterte is set to arrive at the Cebu City Sports Center at 3 p.m. Sunday. The sports complex will be placed on lockdown with Duterte’s arrival. This means that no one can leave or enter the sports center starting 3 p.m. (JJL)
