Mornings at Acacia

I WAS running late for breakfast at Acacia Hotel with some of the industry’s veteran journalists and a few friends. We were supposed to meet at 8:30 a.m. at the hotel’s Waling-Waling Cafe but I arrived at 9 a.m. Everyone was already either halfway through their meals or on their second round.

After setting my things down and taking in a few breaths, I went to the buffet spread to see what the hotel has to offer. The buffet spread was pretty diverse with Western, Asian, and Filipino options for the diners. However, I did observe that the buffet spread was still limited since there were counter spaces where food could be placed. Since they are still new, limiting their buffet spread is understandable.

Aside from the hot options, they also have pastries, fruits, kakanin, and a cereal bar. For your coffee, they have this fancy coffee machine where you can choose the type of coffee you want for breakfast.

After scanning their buffet spread, I got myself some bacon, chicken tocino, and beef tapa. I also grabbed some cinnamon rolls and Danish pastries. I kept my expectations a bit low since they were just new. But I was quite surprised with the quality of the food.

The chicken tocino and beef tapa were delicious. The bacon was tasty and it was neither chewey nor hard. The bacon just had the right texture that you may want to eat more of.

The pastries I had were also pretty good. I really liked the Danish pastries.

In between my trips to the buffet table, I also got myself some coffee from the machine. It was an okay cup of coffee.

I went for a few more rounds and kept coming back for their tocino and beef tapa.

The service was quite okay too. I think we experienced a pretty good service since there were not much people that morning when we had breakfast at the hotel.

Breakfast with colleagues in the industry was great here. I enjoyed the food and I think it was quite good for a newly opened hotel.

Acacia Hotel’s Waling Waling Cafe is a great addition to the city for those looking for buffets in the morning.
