IN BEAUTY and fashion, a lot of things are being considered when choosing the right color/palette, design or style. Yes, skin color is among these considerations.

Most Filipinos are born dark-skinned or morena. And this is something that many of us are proud of. To highlight this well-loved skin tone, here are some beauty and fashion tips which we may want to add to our list of hacks.

Beauty queen and model Ybonne Ortega is a proud morena. For her, her skin color is one of her biggest assets, especially in pageantry.

“My whole life, I have been a proud morena. It’s one of the things that make me who I am. I consider it as a huge physical asset since it reflects my identity as a Filipina,” she shared.

However, Ybonne admitted that she has a “love-hate relationship” with her skin at times. And this usually happens during sleepless nights from studying or from the daily stress that she faces.

“But at the end of the day, I make it a point to look at myself in the mirror and appreciate my morena skin. It isn’t perfect, but an asset doesn’t equate to perfection. Rather, it is something that you simply wouldn’t change anything for the world,” she emphasized.

Play with prints, colors and prints.

“Learn to embrace your morena skin before anything else. Remember that clothes are just clothes until you put your own vibe into it so don’t be scared to play with prints, colors, and designs,” the Physical Therapy intern said.

Be comfortable.

Perhaps, we have already heard a number of times how confidence helps in enhancing ourselves, including our looks. And this queen embraces the same belief.

“I think the most effective way to enhance your morena look is by simply being comfortable in your own skin so make sure that you take good care of it,” the Krishael’s Bridal Queen 2019 said.

Balanced diet plus skin care.

“Have a healthy balanced diet and a proper skin care routine to make your skin shine with radiance,” she noted.

Right make up palette.

Would you agree with me when I say that cosmetic products are invented to make us look more beautiful and gorgeous? And maybe, you have already experienced being told that you look better sans make-up. Well, this could be because the palette used is not the right one.

Personally, my morena skin is enhanced when I put on the shades of rose, magenta, neutral, clay or blush.

Amid these beauty and fashion tips, nothing beats a good outlook, attitude and mindset to bring out the best in us! Keep a positive and happy disposition y’all!
