THE Bacolod City Police Station 6 is facing difficulty in identifying the perpetrators behind the killing of electric-bike driver at Mabini Street, Barangay 30, Bacolod City Friday evening, January 17.
Police identified the fatality as Johnny Lizzo, 29, of Purok Katilingban, Barangay 40.
Police Captain Elmer Bonilla, chief of Police Station 6, said Sunday they have no lead yet on the identities of the assailants whom they claimed to be not less than three armed men.
He said they already secured copies of closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera, but the footages are not clear to identify the suspects, who were on board a white Toyota Innova.
Investigation showed around 6:30 p.m., the victim bought a case of soft drinks in a sari-sari store along Mabini. He was about to take a left turn towards Barangay 30 when unidentified assailants fired at him six times and fled.
The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds on his neck, chest and body.
Police recovered from scene of the crime six fired cartridge cases of .45 caliber, ball cap, pair of slippers, deformed fired bullet, four metal fragments, and P460 cash.
Bonilla said Lizzo was a drug surrenderer in Oplan Tokhang in Police Station 6 in 2016 and in 2017, he was also charged for theft and robbery cases in 2019.
He said they were also informed that Lizzo also engaged in illegal drug activity in Barangay 30.
The police are looking into involvement on illegal drugs, personal grudges and his previous criminal cases as possible motives in the killing of the victim.
Bonilla also urged witnesses to surface to help them identify the killers of the victim. (MAP)
