A BAGUIO City official appealed to lechon vendors to heed the City Government's call on their transfer.

Councilor Philian Weygan-Allan implored to vendors occupying the mini park at the public market to heed the law.

"The market is a privilege, not a right and we appeal to them to comply with the city's move," Weygan-Allan said.

She said elocation for lechon vendors is ready at the Rillera building.

Last year, vendors at the lechon section trooped to the City Council to air their apprehension over relocation plans for them, as they resisted demolition orders from the City.

The vendors occupy a space at the mini park of the city market. However, the area at the Rillera building is not covered with stalls.

Weygan-Allan stood by earlier pronouncements the vendors are posing as an obstruction in the area.

The City Building and Parks Management Office has reportedly given the vendors 15 days to self-demolish their stalls. Gradual development of the market is eyed with over 4,000 vendors to be affected by an eventual redevelopment and hopeful improvement this year.

Uniwide Sales and Realty Corporation is supposed to improve the city market but failed to modernize the space despite a contract with the city and has been embroiled in a legal war between the city and market stakeholders.

The Securities and Exchange Commission deemed Uniwide to be incapable of finances, thus, making it unfit to implement the city project but the city has yet to legally rescind the contract.

Market plans are being finalized which will steer its development with a new zoning, design and loading and unloading areas aimed to ease congestion in the city.
