Isabela mayor says ‘8 barangays affected by insurgency’

ISABELA Mayor Irene Montilla revealed Tuesday, January 21, that eight barangays in the municipality still have insurgency problems.

She said the barangays are located in the hinterland areas.

She identified the villages as Libas, Sikatuna, Sibucauan, San Agustin, Cansalungon, Riverside, Maytubig and Makilignit.

Montilla made the revelation as the town has become a pilot area for Western Visayas for Serbisyo Negrosanon-Retooled Community Support Program, which is a joint effort of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Philippine National Police and Philippine Army in the province.

Montilla said Isabela has volunteered to be the pilot area for the program because of the insurgency problem in eight barangays.

Montilla also said that they plan to replicate RCSP in large scale in the municipality after they determine the problems in the barangays.

Meanwhile, Montilla said that she is grateful of the approval of the Municipal Council of the municipal budget for year 2020 amounting to P192 million.

The municipal Internal Revenue Allotment this year is P184 million from P172 million this year.
