Gunman killed by his victim

A GUNMAN ended up dead instead after his supposed victim was able to retaliate and shoot him several times in Panabo City, Davao del Norte on Monday evening, January 20.

Based on the report from the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao, the victim was identified as Glen Abellana, 49, married, a resident of Purok 6 Racho Village in Barangay New Visayas, Davao City.

Initial report showed that Abellana was on his way home onboard a motorcycle around 7 p.m. of January 20, 2020 when two unidentified men onboard a black motorcycle appeared from behind him and shot him.

Abellana sustained gunshot wounds in his shoulder and back.

Despite his injury, Abellana managed to retaliate and shot one of the gunmen who was riding at the back. He was able to hit him in different parts of his body and the gunman fell on the pavement, dead.

Abellana was rushed to Davao Regional Medical Center in Barangay Apokon in Tagum City for immediate medical attention, while the cadaver of one of the gunmen was brought to Rivera Funeral Homes, Carmen, Davao del Norte by the personnel of Panabo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

Recovered from the crime scene were eight pieces of fired cartridge cases believed to be from a .9mm caliber pistol.

Meanwhile, Panabo City Police Station officer-in-charge Police Major Ernesto M. Gregore has directed the investigators to probe the shooting incident involving riding-in-tandem.

Police are now searching for the other gunman.
