Zamboanga del Norte town official, partner arrested

AN ELECTED government official and his alleged live-in partner were arrested in a law enforcement operation in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Arnold Cagais Dagodog, 44, a councilor in the town of Gutalac, Zamboanga del Norte, and his live-in partner, Irene Lapinig, 40.

Galvez said the two, who are listed as high-value target drug personalities, were arrested when a search warrant was served around 10 a.m. Monday, January 20, in their residence in the village of San Vicente, Gutalac.

Recovered from the suspects were a 9-mm, a caliber .45 and a caliber .380 pistols with ammunition, some P60,000 worth of substance believed to be shabu, and one plastic container.

Galvez said appropriate charges are set to be filed against the suspects, who have been detained. (SunStar Zamboanga)
