SAN Simon town Mayor Abundio “Jun” Punsalan, Jr. on Tuesday, January 21, asserted the urgency of constructing a public hospital amid the broiling tension between Municipal Council members for the approval a related ordinance.

In a special session, Vice Mayor Leonora Wong questioned the earnestness of councilors in approving proposed Ordinance No. 2020-001 which seeks to divert the funds intended for the construction of local government center to the public hospital and other priority projects of Punsalan.

In a separate interview, Punsalan stressed the need for the immediate construction of the municipal hospital to provide necessary healthcare for Simonians.

“Everyday, not only one Simonian gets sick. Healthcare is an everyday need for every one and if that is not a cause for urgency, I don’t know what is,” he said.

Punsalan, meanwhile, assured that his administration is compliant with the legal procedures required in implementing all his programs and projects.

He seconded Councilor Dading Santos’ statement that the SB observed the due process for Ordinance No. 2020-001 and has earned a 10-0 vote during its earlier hearings.

“I do not allow any corruption in my administration. If there is, I will be the first one stop it even if it concerns any of my projects or allies. That is my commitment to Simonians,” he said.
