No known suspects yet on the killing of cable TV worker

A LEAD worker of a cable TV and broadband service provider died Wednesday, January 22, three days after he was mauled by a group of unidentified men in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental.

The victim, Argie Tresquio, 28, resident of Pasil, Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City, sustained severe injuries due to the incident.

Investigation disclosed that the victim had a drinking session 1 a.m. Monday, January 20, with his five companions identified as Jessieboy Muñez, 23, temporarily residing in Balingasag town; Xerxes Laluna, 18, of Pagatpat, this city; Reymart Agulay, 24; John Dave Abes, 21; and Ricardo Liloc, 19.

Police said the group was said to have encountered a misunderstanding with another group.

On their way to their rented pad, the group was waylaid by six male persons on board two motorcycles whose identities are now under validation.

Investigators said the suspects mauled them without apparent reason. Some were able to escape from the scene.

According to Munez who reported the incident to the police, the suspects had beaten Tresquio on the face several times. One of the suspects grabbed a hollow block filled with cement and slammed it into the victim’s head twice.

A footage of the incident has been making rounds on social media while netizens have been calling for justice.

Police are now pursuing the suspects.
