PVO generates P9.8M in farm income, fees

THE Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) of Negros Occidental has generated about P9.8 million through farm income and collection of various fees last year.

The amount accounts for the sales from culled farm animals, farm products and by-products, issuance of Veterinary Health Certificates, farm inspection and registration, and other veterinary and laboratory fees.

The PVO noted the highest amount of income from veterinary inspection fees and veterinary health certificate issuances amounting to almost P6.9 million.

The regulatory services comprised 67.19 percent of the total earnings.

This is because the province is one of the major suppliers of livestock and poultry products to its neighboring islands like Panay and Cebu, it said.

In terms of farm income, the PVO raked in a total P2.90 million; registration and licenses - P366,500; and walk-in consultation and other laboratory fees amounting to P237, 809.

“It shows that there is an effective implementation of Provincial Tax Ordinance No. 2017-001, Series of 2017, carried out through district field units established by the PVO,” it added.

Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena explained that the farm income consists of the sales derived from the two provincial government-run farms namely the Negros First Ranch at Sta. Rosa in Murcia and Provincial Livestock Dairy Farm and Breeding Center at La Granja, La Carlota City.

Decena said that for 2020, they target to increase its collection by extending more products and highly-improved services.

“This is to keep the public satisfaction through effective and efficient delivery of our product and services,” he added.
