AN ESTIMATED P56,000 worth of marijuana was found by a security guard of SM Mall outside the perimeter of the south parking area in Luzuriaga Street, Barangay 13, Bacolod City Tuesday afternoon, January 21.

Police Major Jovil Sedel, chief of Police Station 1, said Wednesday, January 22, that Jeyron Magbanua, 29, security guard of the mall, was conducting a roving patrol when he found a black bag outside the perimeter of the south of the parking area.

When he checked the bag, he found a paper bag containing 18 pieces of self-sealing transparent plastic of dried marijuana leaves weighing 170 kilograms.

Sedel said Magbanua turned over the bag to Police Station 1 which will be forwarded to the crime laboratory.

He said the south parking area of the mall has no closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera.

“We cannot identify the possible owner of the bag who placed it in the area because we do not have a witnesses or CCTV. We are still conducting a thorough investigation on the incident,” he added.
