MARCO Polo Plaza Cebu will be celebrating the auspicious arrival of the Year of the Metal Rat with sumptuous culinary celebrations at Café Marco and Hai Shin Lou Cebu.
The hotel kicks off the celebration at the lobby on Jan. 24, 6 p.m. with the traditional giant Yee Sang Tossing at the lobby where special guests from the Filipino-Chinese community will toss the salad with the hotel’s signature giant chopsticks. The Yee Sang Tossing tradition symbolises the action of wishing one another a year filled with prosperity and happiness.
There will also be the eye-dotting ceremony followed by the traditional lion and dragon dance and the lighting of the firecrackers. This is to ward off evil spirits with the coming of the New Year. Another ceremony will also be held in the morning of Jan. 25 at 8 a.m.
