Guagua town to open Benguet flower depot

FLOWER shop owners, event suppliers and retailers will no longer have to drive to Manila to purchase flowers grown in Benguet as the Municipal Governments of Guagua and La Trinidad, Benguet will be opening a flower wholesale center in Guagua town.

Known for its blooms, produce and berries, La Trinidad is being marketed as a top producer and supplier of fresh goods, supplying the nation of its products. Flowers from the valley are sold in Manila, through the Dangwa flower market.

Mayor Dante Torres said there will now be a better way of accessing flower supplies without the need to go to Manila. Cut flowers from La Trinidad’s famed cut flower farms will be made available on wholesale and retail. The move aims to tap the Central Luzon market and provide a stable supply of cut flower materials.

Torres said Pampanga alone hosts a wholesale through hotels and event venues which demand a steady supply of cut flowers. The project dubbed as “La Trinidad Blooms in Guagua” will be launched this week at the Prombrera Center in Barangay San Matias along Jose Abad Santos Avenue.
