The PBA dream of Cebuano big man William McAloney is on the verge of coming to fruition as he is set to sign a rookie deal with the NLEX Road Warriors.

The left-handed big man, who is currently been playing for Cebu-Casino Ethyl Alcohol in the MPBL, has been tendered a one-year deal by the Warriors.

McAloney, a product of the University of San Carlos, has been exclusively attending NLEX practices ever since he was selected 15th overall in the PBA Draft late last year. Apart from making adjustments to his game, McAloney said the transition to this level has been a learning experience.

For one, the players he faces up against on a daily basis are just as tall and strong as he is.

“It’s okay. Pero lahi lang jud didto kay ang mga bantayanan nako kay dagko na jud ba. Unya kinahanglan na jud ko mutira didto sa gawas kay kung dili, kasab-anan man ko,” disclosed McAloney of what practices have been like under fiery head coach Yeng Guiao.

While in Cebu, McAloney has established himself to be a solid presence in the shaded lane on both ends of the floor, averaging nearly 15 points and 11 rebounds per game. However, in NLEX, he is trying to become more of an outside threat.

“Siguro sa Cebu man gud, more on post moves ko but pag-abot didto sa NLEX kay I’m playing the four position. So mao akong adjustment na ginabuhat, to become more of an outside threat,” McAloney shared. (JNP)
