Cariño: Baguio Connections 91

LAST week, about Bazi charts. This week, more about the 2020 Year of the Metal Rat.

In particular, about the annual flying stars in place for this year. Those of us who practice this beyond ancient method of Chinese geomancy can and do testify to its effectiveness. Read: get your cures and enhancers in place, already.

The flying stars that must be subdued are #5 Yellow in the East, #2 Illness star in the South, #7 Burglary/Violence Star in the Center, and #3 Conflict star in the North. Various sources call those stars as listed, other sources call them other names, but still refer essentially to the energy qualities as the names identify.

#5 yellow (signifying “bad earth”) is traditionally subdued by a five-element pagoda placed where the star is located for the year, sometimes too by a six-rod hollow metal wind chime. Lillian Too’s website, wofs.com, offers the former for sale. Other websites do, too. Maritess Allen, who used to be Too’s Philippines branch, now has her own line of products; you could check her out. A traditional “bad earth” lookout is not to begin earth-digging/moving activities in the direction that the star resides in for the year.

#2 spells out health concerns in the direction where the star resides for the year. So a wu lou cure is in order in the south this year, especially for those whose main doors and/or bedrooms are located here. In the overall scheme of things, though, everyone should watch their health always, strengthen our immunity systems, get enough rest and exercise, eat healthy and live healthy.

#7 star is traditionally subdued by a blue rhino and elephant combination, symbols singly and doubly of mountains of strength, thus immovable, and impenetrable to violence and robbery. In layman’s terms, beef up security measures, especially in that area. Check your locks, replace and strengthen those that are worn out.

#3 star in the north speaks of a predisposition to disagreements, quarrels and disharmony. Through the years, this writer has used the fuk luk sao threesome to subdue this star, and it has worked. Of course, no cure is foolproof. If one is determined to be quarrelsome, the #3 star will enhance the quarrelsome nature. Other cures used through the years to subdue #3 star have been fireballs and fu dogs. Of the lattermost, our house has three sets.

Feng-shui-wise, this writer would advise dealing with those stars immediately and the following, too.

“Three killings” is this year located south, for which many feng shui masters advise that one must not sit facing said direction. Rather, we are told, sit facing south with your back to the north, thus avoiding backstabbing.

The Grand Duke sits North this year, and must be appeased by a Tai Sui plaque. Sitting with one’s back to the north also ensures his protection.

My old, very dear friend and kumadre Tess Trinidad deals with feng shui, including personal readings, using crystals, so I recommend that one and all hie off to her shop in the Baguio City Market for the right crystals to deal with what the 2020 Year of the Rat holds for us, personally and collectively.

Kung hei fat choi, everyone!
