Tigers rip Eagles apart in start of Season 17 of Elite Basketball Club Cebu

THE Tigers got their campaign in the Elite Basketball Club Cebu Season 17 off to a rousing start as they shot down the reigning champions Eagles, 88-85, at the Visayan Glass gym on Friday night, January 24, 2020.

The Tigers bared their teeth early and erected a 38-31 halftime lead before the Eagles came alive to take a 58-52 advantage at the end of the third, thanks to a huge 27-14 outburst.

However, the Tigers had the last say in the proceedings as they exploded in the fourth, outscoring the Eagles, 36-27, to come away with the victory.

Chris Obeso spearheaded the Tigers’ charge with his 17 points and 11 rebounds along with two assists, a steal and a block. John Cabahug and Marsun Tabay also played key roles in the victory as they each had 16 points apiece.

Former University of the Visayas great Randy dela Pisa led the Eagles with 23 points while JL Manila and Allan Dimco had 11 and 10 points, respectively.

In the first game, the Wolves devoured the Hawks, 93-67. Former University of Southern Philippines Foundation standout Roy Quiachon scored 21 points and pulled down seven rebounds to pace the Wolves, which leaned on a strong second half effort that saw them outscore the Hawks, 51-30.

Ian Cabanero added 16 while Daboy del Rosario and Paul Torrecampo had 10 points apiece for the Wolves.
