THE Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) has awarded medals to two reserve officers for exemplary service.

The medal awardees were Brigadier General Peter Suchiangco and Second Lieutenant Deric Joseph Roque.

Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana, Westmincom chief, led the awarding ceremony on Thursday, January 23, at Camp Navarro, which houses the Westmincom headquarters in Zamboanga City.

Suchiangco was recognized for his meritorious achievement during his stint as commander of the First Technical and Administrative Service Brigade.

Sobejana added that through the initiative of Suchiangco, seven classrooms at Lahing-Lahing Elementary School were renovated in Omar, Sulu.

Roque was also awarded for his meritorious achievement in conducting non-military activities that furthered the accomplishment of the Westmincom’s mission.

Meanwhile, Oliva Canseco, branch head of the Armed Forces and Police Savings and Loans Associations, Inc. in this city, turned over the documents of a Toyota Hice-Ace van donated by the association to Westmincom.

Reverend Father Jeffrey Mirasol officiated the blessing of the van and five other KM450 vehicles issued to the Westmincom by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) General Headquarters.

“These new mobility assets will be used in accomplishing the day-to-day logistics and technical operations of our troops at the garrison. We are in deep gratitude for such gesture of generosity and support,” Sobejana said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
