6 centenarians get P100k each

TARLAC CITY – The provincial government of Tarlac awarded six centenarians P100,000 each as incentive for reaching the century mark.

Aside from them, another ten senior citizens who celebrated their birthdays each received P25,000 cash gifts from the local government.

The recognition and distribution of cash incentives was led by Governor Susan Yap and Vice Governor Carlito “Casada” David at the conference room of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Legislative Building, January 15.

Yap congratulated the centenarians and praised their children and relatives for taking care of their elders.

“Congrats to all our centenarians and birthday celebrants. Indeed, it is God’s blessing for you for reaching this age,” the governor said.

Yap was the author and sponsor of the anti-age discrimination bill during her Congress days.

The P100,000 and P25,000 cash incentives were given through Provincial Ordinance No. 001-2016 passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in 2016.

The ordinance grants recognition and cash award to Tarlac centenarians and declaring the first Monday of October each year as “Centenarian Day”.

Centenarians who are eligible for the cash incentive, known as “The Tarlaqueño Centenarian Ordinance of 2016” must be bonafide resident of Tarlac province for at least one year prior to his or her birthday and a registered voter in any municipality of the province.

Centenarians who received cash incentives were 103 year-old Jaime Collado of Maamot, San Jose; 102 year-old Teodora Ortega of Sinilian, Camiling; 101 year-old Edgardo Caparas of Burgos, Moncada; 100 year-old Natividad Saluspeña of San Agustin, Gerona; 100 year-old Matilde Tongol of CubCub, Capas and 100 year-old Gertudis Mendoza of Bobon First, Camiling.

Celebrants were Isabel Julian (102 years old), Severo Nano (102 years old), Aguida Bautista (109 years old), Ignacia Madriaga (105 years old), Rufina Pagaduan (103 years old), Adriana Garcia (104 years old), Tomasa Gallardo (103 years old), Enriqueta Olivir (102 years old), Rufo Yumul (102 years old) and Alejandra Tiomico

(101 years old).
