THE Police Regional Office (PRO) in Zamboanga Peninsula got a boost as 700 volunteers have joined as new members of the Salaam Police.
Police Brigadier General Froilan Quidilla, PRO-Zamboanga director, said the 700 volunteers were inducted into the Salaam Police during last week’s 10th General
Assembly of the group held at Sitio Mulu-Muluan in the village of Mercedes, Zamboanga City.
Quidilla said the entry of the new volunteers increased to 6,700 the total number of Salaam Police force multipliers in the region.
Police Major Karib Muharram, chief of Salaam Police Center, and Imam Solem Hamid, Salaam Police Force Multipliers regional president, officiated the oathtaking of the 700 volunteers during the assembly.
The assembly was anchored in the theme, “A community that calls for what is good, urges what is right and forbids what is wrong: those who do this are the successful ones.”
Muharram said they continue to organize Salaam volunteers because the PRO-Zamboanga recognizes their significant contributions to the police, particularly in
preventing and countering violent extremism and terrorism (PCVET), crime monitoring and crime reporting. (SunStar Zamboanga)
