A WOMAN tagged by the police as a high-value target was caught in a drug bust in Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 26, 2020.

Ceilo Mendoza Regner, 33, yielded more than P4 million worth of illegal drugs.

She hails from Barangay Cogon Ramos, Cebu City.

The drug bust, initiated by the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office intelligence unit, was conducted at 2:15 p.m. in Sitio So-ong 2, Barangay Mactan.

The operatives seized 21 packs of “shabu.” The contraband weighed 625 grams, worth about P4.2 million.

The two marked P500 bills used by an undercover police officer in transacting with Regner were also seized from the suspect. The operatives later recovered from Regner P1,560 in cash said to be her proceeds from selling illegal drugs.

Mayor Junard Chan witnessed the inventory, saying it was his way of supporting President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs.

“Sayod ako nga kini ang nagguba sa kaugmaon sa atong mga kaigsuonan, labaw na sa mga kabataan (I know that illegal drugs are ruining the future of our brothers, especially the youth),” he said.

Last Saturday night, six suspected pushers—Kevin Rail Casio, Vadie Sabañico, Angelo Helido, Paul Tabilon, Ronel Capa and Christopher Fernandez—were caught during a checkpoint in Barangay Tanke, Talisay City, Cebu.

They yielded sachets of “shabu” with a total value of P4,964.

The round-the-clock checkpoint in Barangays Tanke and San Roque started last week. Thirty members of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion were deployed in the two villages to help the city police.

The suspects will be charged for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (HBL, FMD / KAL)
