SOME 1,679 marathon runners participated in the 4th Infantry Division’s (4ID) Golden Diamond Run on Sunday, January 26, where proceeds will be poured to the Camp Evangelista Station Hospital which caters active, retired, and veteran soldiers including their families.

Major General Franco Nemesio Gacal, 4ID commander, said the money generated from the activity will be used to procure medical equipment, enhancement of the army hospital, and prosthetics for injured soldiers.

“Today’s run is different and extra special to our soldiers because 4ID will be celebrating its 50th founding anniversary and we are honoring the selflessness and heroism of our soldiers over the last 5 decades,” Gacal said in statement.

“Your support to this activity will surely help in improving the medical services that our station hospital provides. I would like to thank all of you for showing your support, your care and respect to our soldiers. This will certainly boost the morale of our soldiers knowing that they are not alone in the fight in attaining peace and development in Regions 10 and Caraga,” Gacal added.

The 3-category run was participated by various government agencies, security sector, youth, media and other stakeholders to mark the 50th anniversary of the army division this February 1.
