6 charged for beating cable worker to death

POLICE on Monday, January 27 filed murder charges against six persons allegedly responsible for mauling to death a cable TV and broadband service provider lead worker in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental last week.

One of the suspects identified as Fausto Longino, 25, resident of Lagonglong town, was arrested on Friday, January 24, in a hot pursuit operation.

Police said Longino was among the group who beat the victim Argie Tresquio, of Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City.

The victim was brought to the hospital due to severe injuries but he was declared dead the following day.

The murder charges were filed before the Provincial Prosecutors Office on Monday, January 27.

Lieutenant Colonel Mardy Hortillosa, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao, said operatives are still tracing the whereabouts of the other five suspects.

“Six tanan suspects. Isa nadakpan, Gipangita pa ang uban. Ang ika-unom gi-determine pa ang participation niya sa incident,” Hortillosa said.

(There are six suspects. One arrested while we are looking for the rest. We are still determining the participation of the 6th person in the incident.)

The victim’s group was said to have encountered a misunderstanding with another group while having a drinking spree on January 20.

On their way home, the group was waylaid by the suspects on board two motorcycles.

Tresquio sustained head injuries after he was hit by a hollow block filled with cement.

Investigators are still looking into the motive of the incident.
