MONDAY morning turned into mourning for the family of a senior citizen who died on the spot after she was hit and ran over by an 18-wheeler truck in Sasa, Davao City.

Sasa Police Station commander Major Reuben Libera said based on their sketchy report regarding a vehicular accident that transpired at Kilometer 12, Sasa on January 27, the victim was identified as Pacita Y. Montana, 65, widow, and a resident of Immaculada in the same place.

The driver was identified as Gomersendo L. Torreon, 59, resident of Poblacion II, Cotabato City.

During the course of the investigation, it was learned that a freightliner truck was traveling along Davao-Agusan National Highway heading to north direction occupying the inner lane.

Upon reaching the place of the incident, the vehicle turned left but hitting the victim on the process.

The victim, who was just crossing the highway, was declared dead on the spot by the responding Central 911 personnel.

In a post of one Darylle, he said it pained them to learn the news on the passing of his grandmother and that he could still not believe that she is dead. He added that they were still happy the day before the tragic incident and had no inkling that it would be their last bonding.

“Sakit man sa among buot nga na wala na among Lola Dili man gd nato mabantayan atong kamatayon only God ra nakabalo. Siguro gikuha siya ni God Kay gimingaw na si lolo sa iyaha. La/Lo ma miss ka namo. Last day na diay pagkita nato gahapon La (It is heartbreaking for us to lose her but we cannot predict death only God knows. Maybe God took her because our grandfather misses her),” his post read.

The driver is now under the custody of the police for the filing of a case for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide.
