Villages told to join extension of business one-stop-shop

“The barangays (villages) should join the extension of the Business One-Stop-Shop (Boss) at the Bacolod Government Center (BGC).”

This was stressed by executive assistant Samuel Montoyo, member of Anti-Red Tape Act Core Team, Monday, January 27, after 22 barangay already pulled out their tables at the BGC.

Montoyo said of 61 villages, 22 of them returned to their villages last week because almost 85 percent of business establishments within their areas of jurisdiction already secured the business clearance.

These are villages 4, 6, 12, 15, 17, 23, 25, 27, 29, 32, 33, 34, 36, 38, 39, Banago, Granada, Montevista, Handumanan, Tangub, Cabug, and Estefania.

“They also informed us, but based on the opinion of the City Legal Office (CLO) the barangays should stay at the BGC until the end of the Boss on February 29, so they have to come back here,” Montoyo said.

For those who fail to return at BGC, he said that the CLO will prepare the sanctions to be filed against them.

“Since this is a law, they should return here and we already contacted them and we expect that they will be here today,” Montoyo added.

The City Council earlier approved the extension of the Boss and the deadline of payment for business permits from January 20 to February 29.

From January 2 to 17, the Permits and Licensing Division already registered more than 14,000 business establishments.

The Boss aims to provide convenience and accessibility to the taxpayers. It includes representatives from the City Health Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, Office of the Building Official, Environment and Natural Resources Office, and the barangays for the signing of business owner clearances that operates in Bacolod.
