PIO head questions Provincial Board's session coverage regulation

THE Provincial Information Office (PIO) of Misamis Oriental cried foul after some of its staff who covered the regular session of the Provincial Board were allegedly prohibited from taking videos of the proceedings.

PIO head Carlo Dugaduga said his staff reported to him that they could no longer take videos of the session starting February 3, as there are official videographers of the Capitol's legislative body.

"Ang ingon sa akong mga staff nga giingnan sila na bawal na magkuha og video kay naa daw official videographer og didto na lang daw mangayo (My staff told me that they were told not to take videos as there is an official videographer where they can ask for a video copy)," Dugaduga said.

In the Capitol's daily press briefer, Dugaduga said covering the proceedings of the Provincial Board's regular session by taking videos has been the practice of the PIO, and it has not violated any policy of the Provincial Board.

He said it is unfair for the PIO because this office has been tasked to inform the public of the updates and developments of the Provincial Government.

"Dili kini makatarunganon, hilabi na dili masabtan kon unsa gayud ang rason sa bise gobernador kon ngano dili naman niya gusto pakuhaan sa video samtang nagpahigayon sila sa session kung tinuod pa nga nagtamod sila sa mandato sa katawhan kanila nga transparensiya," Dugaduga said.

(This is not just, especially that we can't understand the reason of the vice governor as to why he doesn't want anyone, except the official videographer, taking videos during the proceedings.)

Dugaduga is worried that this may also apply to the local media who also covers the session.

"Ang policy within the SP (Provincial Board) when it comes to media coverage, dili man tingali kabubut-on sa usa ka tawo kay ang SP collegial body man," Dugaduga added.
