Cervantes: Fears over Pope Francis

IN THE meantime, let me shelve our series on the Warning amid the urgent need to pray for Pope Francis who, if the prophecy attributed to St. Malachy is true, could be the last pope of our “times.”

Why such need? Because there has been so much controversy that now surrounds him, and his words and acts have already triggered confusion and conflict.

Some of the controversies involve his appointments to top and sensitive posts in the Vatican, for these appointments alone have been cause of much trepidation for the Church.

There’s Italian Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia whom Pope Francis appointed in 2017 as President of the Pontifical Academy for Life and Grand Chancellor of the John Paul II Pontifical Theological Institute for Marriage and Family Sciences.

In 2007, Paglia paid an artist, known as a practicing homosexual, to paint an allegedly blasphemous homoerotic mural in his cathedral church,

The massive mural can be found at the side of the facade of the cathedral church of the Diocese of Terni-Narni-Amelia in Italy. It depicts Jesus carrying nets to heaven filled with naked and semi-nude homosexuals, transsexuals, prostitutes, and drug dealers, jumbled together in erotic interactions. The mural includes the archbishop’s image in the act of embracing a near-naked man.

The artist, Ricardo Cinalli, admitted later that the naked people in the nets were meant to be “erotic” and that “the one thing that they didn’t permit me to insert was the copulation of two people within this net where everything is permitted.”

Paglia as head of the Pontifical Academy for Life has been noted to have issued statements expressing unqualified admiration for longtime friend Marco Pannella who is known to have spent most his life fighting for the legalization and promotion of abortion, same-sex “marriage,” and euthanasia in Italy, and was himself an openly bisexual man.

Lifesite.com says Paglia is also “responsible for developing and releasing the Vatican’s new sex-ed program, which, among numerous other grave flaws, includes pornographic images.”

Next, there Fr. James Martin, SJ, who was appointed by Pope Francis as a consultant to the secretariat of communications of the Holy See in 2017. Martin popularly known as “the Rainbow priest” for his propaganda legitimising homosexual relationships, and his scandalous gay and lesbian Rosary

Father Timothy Radcliffe, OP, has stated that homosexual activity can be expressive of Christ’s self-gift. Pope Francis appointed him as a consultor for the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace in 2015.

In February, 2019, the Pope also appointed Cardinal Oswald Gracias as one of the organizers of the Vatican summit on sexual abuse. This priest is known to have publicly expressed his view that homosexuality may be an orientation directly bestowed by God.

It’s also a wonder why Pope Francis appointed Msgr. Battista Mario Salvatore Ricca to be prelate of the Instituto delle Opera di Religionee and in charge of his residence Casa Santa Maria. The name of the priest could be familiar to some, as he is the same priest who was found in embarrassing situation after he had trapped and has to be rescued in an elevator with a known male prostitute while he was with the papal nunciature in Uruguay.

In December 2019, Pope Francis named Bishop Gustavo Oscar Zancheta as an assessor of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See. Zanchetta was once accused of homosexual misconduct and sexual harrassment of seminarians. Photographic evidence of his misdeeds was presented to the Holy See in 2015.

American Cardinal Raymond Burke, in a recent interview with the Cathlic Herald, expressed the view that the confusion in the Church under Pope Francis seem to indicate the End Times. Burke is now out of graces with the Pope.

Here is what he said:

“In the present moment there is confusion and error about the most fundamental teachings of the Church, for example with regard to marriage and the family. For instance, the idea that people who are living in an irregular union could receive the sacraments is a violation of the truth with regard both to the indissolubility of marriage and to the sanctity of the Eucharist.

“St Paul tells us in his First Letter to the Corinthians that before we approach to receive the Body of Christ, we have to examine ourselves, or we eat our condemnation by receiving the Eucharist in an unworthy way. Now the confusion in the Church is going even further than that, because there is today confusion as to whether there are acts which are intrinsically evil and this, of course, is the foundation of the moral law. When this foundation begins to be questioned within the Church, then the whole order of human life and the order of the Church itself are endangered.

“So there is a feeling that in today’s world that is based on secularism with a completely anthropocentric approach, by which we think we can create our own meaning of life and meaning of the family and so on, the Church itself seems to be confused. In that sense one may have the feeling that the Church gives the appearance of being unwilling to obey the mandates of Our Lord. Then perhaps we have arrived at the End Times.”
