Pacya: PM is the key

PRIVATE message is the key to most online sellers due to the tight competition and demands of the industry.

Various pages and groups in social media are created purposely to sell and buy products. Many internet users are creating satisfying income in front of their computers or by simply tapping their smartphones — at home or anywhere.

Sellers prefer private chats with their clients especially in revealing prices.

This is to avoid “fishing” of customers because some sellers contact the possible buyer and offer a lower rate. This is advantageous to online shoppers but is a challenge to suppliers. The worst case of being an online seller is waking up one day discovering that domain administrators have deleted your account because somebody with inhumane behavior reported it.

Online selling has leveled up from only posting to going live in social media accounts. The scheme is a first-comment first-served basis. The seller provides the code that usually starts with “mine” for customers to avail of what they want. If you are the first to comment on the right code, you will get the item. Payment of orders comes in the form of bank transfer, online payment cards, cash-on-delivery or through store remittances.

Going live is good because you track real-time the orders of clients but sometimes you will find “joy miners”— these are viewers who just play their “mines” during the live show but will not actually complete the process of paying and getting the product.

On the other hand, there are also scammers behind screens. They post products but will not deliver them. They are just after your payment after you send your money, you will wait until forever to get your item.

Aside from social media accounts, people are now into online shopping. People already know how to shop at home without the hassle of going to the market. There are many online shop platforms on the web, some of the most popular and tested sites are Alibaba, Lazada, Shopee, Zalora, and Wish among others.

This Ikarao boy has done online shopping, too and signed up to almost ten of these sites and compare prices and quality of product before checking out and placing my orders.

Some perks of transacting with digital shops are the offering of vouchers, rewards and promos every day or even every hour. These e-marketing strategies keep the buyers glued to the sites. Most of the products are on sale but do not be disappointed when the shipping fee is much higher than the price of your order because it happens oftentimes.

This industry is not only benefiting the sellers and the buyers but also it promotes the services of logistic companies and some establishments out there used as dropping areas including payment centers.

As of December 2019, the Department of Trade and Industry is seeking for the enactment of a law regulating online business transactions to protect sellers and product end-users. The country has the Consumer Act and E-Commerce Act but still, there is no clear cut in handling complaints in doing online dealings.
