THE Talisay City police force is relentless in its efforts against illegal drugs. This, as 14 more suspected drug personalities were apprehended in an anti-drug operation in Barangay Tanke on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020.
The operations, carried out from 4 a.m. to 6:45 a.m., yielded 21.14 grams of crystalline substance believed to be shabu with a street value of P143, 752.
The suspects were arrested in a joint 24/7 static checkpoint of barangays Tanke and San Roque, in line with the Oplan Limpyo Talisay program that seeks to combat illegal activities in Talisay, especially drugs.
Among those arrested were Walter Cabardo, Richard Dela Cruz, Roger Bacus and 11 others in sitios Salvador, Sambagan in San Rafael and Sawsawan in Tanke.
The three are believed to be high-value targets in their barangays.
According to Police Major Gerard Ace Pelare, Talisay City Police Station (TCPS) chief, their intensified anti-drug operations and 24/7 checkpoints in Tanke and San Roque have resulted in the arrest of suspected drug personalities and have curbed illegal drug activity in their city.
For this reason the police are not discounting that drug-related transactions will move to other barangays like Cansojong and Tabunok.
Meanwhile, the Talisay City Police Station received a Provincial Board (PB) resolution commending their exemplary efforts in the buy-bust last Jan. 11, where they seized more than P5 million worth of drugs.
The resolution, sponsored by PB Members Raul Bacaltos and Yolanda Daan, was passed and approved last Jan. 20 during a PB session.
“The successful anti-drug operations clearly demonstrates the determination of the Police Officers of Talisay City Police Station to combat the proliferation of illegal drugs in the City in line with the current thrust of the government eradicating the same, hence, deserving of commendation by the 15th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Cebu to serve as inspiration to other law enforcers in their Battle Against Illegal Drugs,” the resolution stated.
The TCPS received a copy of the resolution in the morning of January 29. (FMD, MML)
