THE new president of Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Steven Alain Yu, plans to steer the chamber to a more “green direction” that is anchored on sustainability, resiliency, dynamism and compassion.

Yu said the chamber officials are planning to craft long term plans by incorporating solutions that will address environmental concerns.

“Climate change is now a very big issue that can possibly pop the existence of three generations of people. If we won’t implement measures against climate change, it might put our lives in danger,” he said.

With the successive calamities and disasters that are getting stronger, Yu said investments should be shifted into green innovations.

“We have to lessen carbon emission by being green, by going into green infrastructure and going into a green lifestyle. Millennials are more open to green concepts but the older generations are not, so we want all of them to have increased awareness,” he said.

Yu said they will support the green and sustainable initiatives of companies.

He said MCCI will be resilient while maintaining to be competitive as well as dynamic with regards to the industry and the environment.

“We have to be efficient without sacrificing the environment,” Yu said.

Yu formally took oath on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020 at Bai Hotel.

He served MCCI as vice president for internal affairs since 2017 and has represented the chamber and the business community in various boards and councils including the Regional Development Council 7.

Yu is the chairman and chief executive officer of Alliance Pacific Resources Corp. and One Central Tower, which was developed by Akropolis Stars Realty Development Corp., the real estate arm of the Yu family.

The family’s core business is trading for more than 20 years, while its other business interests include a franchise of a food chain and small real estate projects, specifically commercial buildings.

Yu succeeded Stanley Go of Virginia Food Inc. He will be serving as MCCI president until 2022.
