POLICE officers in ummarked vehicles arrested several persons in Valencia City, Bukidnon Thursday, January 30, as part of aggressive law enforcement operations.
A netizen who claimed to have witnessed one such operation said the men who made the arrest had their faces covered.
Valencia City Police Chief Surki Sereñes said it was a legitimate police operation.
“If the concerned person thinks there was violation committed, the Office of the Chief of Police is open 24/7 to listen to their complaints. It is for security reason that our operatives use unmarked vehicles. It is also for personal security that they use masks,” he said.
“Should they need the true identity of our operatives for legal purposes, we could give it to them if that will satisfy them and clear their doubts,” he added.
In a statement, the Valencia City Police said close to 100 felons were apprehended from January 17 to 31 on the order of Bukidnon Provincial Director Police Chief Roel Lamiing.
Among those arrested in Valencia City were 17 persons with arrest warrants, 15 for drug-related charges, and 62 for violation of Republic Act 4136 and local ordinances.
Police also arrested Valencia City’s No.9 Most Wanted Person Thursday in Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City as well as a Chinese national for obstruction of justice and direct assault.
