BENGUET caretaker and ACT-CIS party representative Eric Go Yap pledged to continue bills filed by the late Representative Nestor Fongwan Sr.

Yap conveyed his intention to help the public and assured no politics involved in his term as caretaker of the province.

“Sisiguraduhin ko po sa inyo na wala po tayong politika, hindi mahahaluan ng politika ang serbisyo publiko,” Yap said during his visit in the province Wednesday afternoon where he was given a traditional welcome.

Yap added he is proud and privileged to represent the district and vowed to fight for the welfare of the province in the Congress where he plans to alleviate the agriculture sector of the province.

The official disclosed his intention to lobby with the Department of Agriculture (DA) for additional farm to market road budget for the province and ask the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to make sure the 13 chief executives of the province have voices on the infrastructure projects they need.

“Sisiguraduhin ko po na ang mga mayors ay may say sa gusto nilang infra. Bakit po? Ang mayors ang pinaka-nakakilala sa mga municipality, sa mga tao na nasasakupan nila, alam nila iyong pangangailangan ng tao, kalsada, infrastructure,” he added.

Yap also met with Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas and Vice Governor Johnny Waguis together with the mayors of the 13 municipalities to synchronize programs of the caretaker and all the local government units.

He also assured the district office at the provincial capitol will remain open to all stakeholders.

Yap also expressed to lobby needed equipment for Benguet General Hospital and continue the bills filed by Fongwan Sr.

“I was appointed as caretaker, we will not replace our beloved Congressman Nestor Fongwan Sr., I cannot replace the services he rendered for Benguet. I can only give my best for the people of Benguet,” he said.

“Titiyakin ko po na respetuhin ang inyong tradisyon,” Yap added “Doon po sa nagsasabi na hindi po ako taga Cordillera, bakit po ako magcacaretaker. Naiintindihan ko po iyon, wala po akong sama ng loob, dahil iyong ay opinyon ng bawat tao,” Yap added.

Since winning the May 2019 elections as representative of the Anti-Crime and Terrorism Community Involvement and Support Partylist, Yap authored 39 bills and co-authored two bills in Congress and currently chairs the committee on games and amusements and vice-chair for government enterprises and privatization, and committee on ways and means.
