Gun dealer, 4 ‘shabu’ users rounded in Lapasan raid

ANOTHER suspected firearms dealer was arrested while around P140,000 worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride locally known as “shabu” was seized from four men who were caught in the act using illegal substance in the same operation in Agora, Lapasan, this city, Tuesday, January 28.

Members of the Regional Special Operations Unit (RSOU) in Northern Mindanao arrested Benjie Arapan, also known by the name Benjie Millan, 52, resident of San Lazaro, Agora, Lapasan.

The suspect was arrested in a drug bust wherein one caliber .38 revolver, some sachets of shabu worth P140,000 and drug paraphernalia were confiscated.

During the operation, four persons were caught in the act having a pot session.

They were identified as Jomar Delfin, 33, resident of Wao, Lanao del Sur; Edgar Remeticado, 41, of NHA, Kauswagan, this city; Noel Pepito, 32, and Mark Liovel Ugpay, 29; both residents of Dangcagan, Bukidnon.

All suspects are now detained and will face various charges.

Lieutenant Colonel Mardy Hortillosa, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao, said Arapan may have connections with those who were recently arrested for alleged selling of guns in the city.

On January 13, brothers Nicanor and Joel Fernandez were arrested in an anti-illegal drugs operation in Barangay Cugman where the suspects also yielded firearms.
