NBI opens new satellite office in Ayala

CLIENTS of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) may now avoid the long lines in its main office following the inauguration of its new satellite office in Ayala Center Cebu, Cebu City.

NBI National Director Dante Gierran, who attended the opening on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, said their 126th satellite office in the country will provide hassle-free transaction.

The opening of a new satellite office in Ayala was made possible by NBI’s partnership with Maycre Inc.

It is expected to decongest the main office, which is usually full of those who want to get an NBI clearance.

In his welcome remarks, NBI 7 Assistant Director Dominador Cimafranca said the opening of the new satellite office marks another milestone in bringing NBI closer to the public.

“The opening of the satellite office in partnership with the private sectors in the heart of a business center is in line with the NBI’s vision to provide efficient, quality, accessible frontline service to the public,” he said.

Jumyl Maypa, chief executive officer of Maycre, said the project has been their company’s advocacy.

“We know the plight of each and every BPO (business process outsourcing) employee trying to comply with the pre-employment requirements. It’s challenging for them because government offices operate within the period that they are supposed to sleep before going back to work at late in the evening again,” he said.

Former Cebu City mayor Tomas Osmeña, who also attended the event, said although there are thousands of call center agents in the city, many of them are not from the province.

“You look at all of these things and they complain about safety, just to go from one place to another. They have to work late at night. It’s a hard job but who else can pay that kind of salary? We as a government, we are trying to make it easy for them,” Osmeña said.

Located at the Ayala Center Cebu Active Zone, the new satellite office is open on weekdays from Monday to Friday (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.). (USJ-R Journalism intern Mae Fhel Gom-os)
