BAGUIO City is certainly “a joyful and colorful city” especially for the past days because of the Spring Festival Celebrations and Chinese Lunar Year!
Bonds between the Chinese and Filipino community are strengthened and support is bolstered. Resilient and family oriented, this is how Mrs. Sol Go, better half of Congressman Mark Go defines the Filipino-Chinese community. Indeed, their secret to success that we should all emulate.
“Spread positivity and good vibes. Focus on ‘we’ or ‘us’ instead of ‘I’,” awardee Rommel Fallarme said.
This will surely apply to all, be it a small or big group or an organization in the community. Along with City Officials headed by Mayor Benjamin Magalong, officers of the Chinese community headed by guest Hon. Zhou Youbin (Consul and Head of Post, Consulate of the People’s Republic of China in Laoag City), the awardees were honored during the annual festivities.

Congratulations to the winners of the Rotary Club of Baguio Summer Capital (RCBSC) Annual Golf Tournament held last January 25 at the Baguio Country Club! The winners are Maffy Bazar Over-All Champion; Class A John Felix (Champion), Ethan Co (1st RU), and Dinky Del-Ong (2nd RU); Class B Teddy Cheong (Champion), Gab Bautista (1st RU) and Louie Balbin (2nd RU); Class C Manix Nerona (Champion), Ariz Datuin (1st RU) and Rey Dacones (2nd RU); for the Ladies Division Charmaine Molintas (Champion) and Vanessa Bango (RU); the Special Awards were Ethan Co – Nearest to the Pin #1 (4 ft), Charmaine Molintas – Longest Drive #3 (290 yards), and Manix Nerona – Most Accurate Drive #8 (On the Line).

A Joint Rotary Project: the Human Milk Bank. The Human Milk Bank located at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, was provided by the Rotary International through funding by the Rotary Foundation, Rotary International District 3790 through the Rotary Club of Baguio Summer Capital (president Jose Antonio Baltazar, RY2018-2019), Rotary International District 3780 through the Rotary Club of Timog QC (president Jose Mejia, RY2018-2019) and Rotary Club of Holy Spirit (president Fernando Degra, Jr., RY2018-2019), and the Rotary International District 3680, South Korea, through the Rotary Club of Daejeon-Jeil (president Han Gyu Jeon, RY2018-2019).
The project entailed the construction of this facility, the first and only of its kind here in the CAR. Donation of Human Milk, extraction, pasteurization and storage are continuously being done, providing precious milk to babies in need. This Project was initiated in April 2018 and was officially donated and turned over to BGHMC last March 27, 2019.

Celebrating Life. Cheers to Juanita Madriaga Pulmano and family on the occasion of her 100th year birthday! Lola Juanita was born on January 20, 1920 in Tubao, La Union and is married to Honorario Pulmano (+). Lola Juanita at present has 6 children, 21 grandchildren, and 48 great grandchildren! The Pulmano-Madriaga families held this Grand Reunion last January 25 at the Baguio Country Club.

Happy 80th Birthday to Hilaria “Ling” Bautista Payoyo who celebrated her birthday last January 29 at Baguio Crown Legacy Hotel. Family and relatives here in the Philippines and the U.S gathered for this joyful celebration. Tita Ling is blessed with 5 successful children. A multi-awarded teacher in service for 35 years, she is very much loved by her former pupils. A woman with strong faith in God, love for family, relatives and friends, she constantly keeps a positive, cheerful life with sincerity in everything. These she says, are her secrets in reaching 80 years of a blissful life.
