NAGKASINABOT ang Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) ug Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) nga magtambayayong alang sa ilang plano sa PBA nga maglusad og 3x3 event.
Usa kini ka lakang sa PBA alang sa ilang tinguha nga makatabang sa national cage federation nga maka-qualify sa Olympics.
“If not Tokyo (in July), maybe 2024 in Paris,” matod ni SBP president Al Panlilio, kinsa mao sab ang PBA governor nga nagrepresentar sa Meralco Bolts team, nga napatik sa www.pba.ph.
Sugdan ang PBA 3x3 karong Marso apan wala pa’y detalye gumikan kay nag-agad pa kini sa mapili nga tournament director.
“Through the recommendation of the vice chair (Bobby Rosales of Columbian Dyip), we decided to make it a stand-alone program, something like the D-League. It will be run by an executive director under the supervision of the PBA commissioner,” pasabot ni PBA chair Ricky Vargas.
“Our involvement in 3x3 reassured the SBP president that the PBA is all-out to support the SBP. We’ve been doing that at least in the last four years.”
Nagkanayon si Rosales nga ang 3x3 program sa PBA makahatag og oportunidad sa daghang Pinoy nga mga basketbolista.
Mosalmot sa 3x3 program ang 12 ka teams kasamtangang mga miyembro sa PBA ug posibleng madugangan pa kini og laing team nga dili miyembro sa PBA.
Matod ni PBA commissioner Willie Marcial nga ningpadayag na og interes nga mosalmot ang Mighty Sports ug Dunkin Donuts.
Sa inisyal nga plano, ang mga makaduwa sa 3x3 program mao ra ang mga basketbolista nga dili aktibong nagduwa sa PBA.
Alang sa Olympic qualifier sa Tokyo Olympics, ang PBA board nagkauyon nga ilahang ipahuwam ang SEAG gold-medal winners nga sila si CJ Perez, Chris Newsome, Moala Tautuaa ug Jason Perkins. / ESL
